โ Back to HomeOur Approach
Community conversation practice โ what it means in our sessions
Community conversation practice is a facilitation tradition that developed in adult education and civic dialogue contexts. Its core principle is that structured prompts โ rather than an expert's direction โ give participants the best chance of finding their own way into a difficult subject.
In a Kithcraft session, the facilitator's job is to hold the space, manage the time, and offer prompts. The content of the conversation belongs entirely to the participants. Nothing is recorded, evaluated, or reported.
Clear time boundaries
Every session has a defined start and end. Facilitators manage time so that participants can engage without watching the clock.
Confidentiality as standard
Facilitators operate under a participant confidentiality protocol. What is shared in the room stays there.
Writing before speaking
Sessions begin with private written reflection โ lowering the threshold for participants who need a moment to gather their thoughts.
Prompts reviewed regularly
Workshop materials are reviewed and updated based on facilitator experience and participant feedback at quarterly team sessions.
Workshop 01
New-Parent Conversation Workshop
A three-hour session for new parents and their partners who want a structured space to talk together about the changes a new household member brings. The workshop is facilitator-led and uses prompts drawn from community conversation practice. It is not counselling and does not include advice on infant care or any regulated discipline.
Partners are welcomed together. Participants leave with a printed prompt card set and a curated follow-up reading list suited to new-parent households.
What the session covers
- Household relationship shifts after a new arrival
- Private written reflection with prompts
- Facilitated conversation between participants
- Printed prompt card set to take home
- Curated follow-up reading list
Workshop 02
Family of Origin Conversation Series
Three sessions for adults who want to think and talk together about the families they came from. The series is reflective and conversational โ not counselling. It is led by a senior facilitator and uses prompts that participants choose to engage with or set aside.
Participants write privately and share by choice. The series includes a printed journal for use across all three sessions, and a personal follow-up note from the facilitator one month after the final session. Suitable for adults of any age.
What the series includes
- Three facilitated sessions โ typically across three weeks
- Senior facilitator for all sessions
- Printed journal included
- No obligation to speak โ private writing is valid
- Personal follow-up note at one month
Workshop 03
Yearlong Family Workshop Membership
A twelve-month membership designed for households that want a steady rhythm of structured conversation across a year. The membership includes attendance at all public studio workshops, two private facilitator sessions, and a mailed monthly conversation prompt. For one household of up to six adults.
The membership is facilitational and educational. It does not include legal advice or counselling. It is the right choice for households where occasional sessions have felt valuable and a longer-term rhythm seems worth building.
Everything the membership includes
- All public Kithcraft workshops for twelve months
- Two private sessions with a senior facilitator
- Monthly conversation prompt mailed to your home
- Up to six adults per household
- Priority booking for popular sessions

Data privacy
Contact and booking information is held only as long as needed to manage the session and is not shared with third parties. See our Privacy Policy.
